Cajá

The yellow-golden cajá fruit grows mainly in north-east Brazil on trees up to 25 metres high and contains a sweet and sour pulp that is mainly used in Brazil to prepare fresh juices. Cajá is also used as an ingredient in cocktails, jams and ice cream.

The cajá is also known as taperebá or yellow mombin plum.

The flesh of the cajá is particularly rich in vitamin C as well as vitamin A, calcium, iron and fibre. The incomparable flavour is described as tart and aromatic and the smell is particularly pleasant.

Our cajá fruits come from the north-east of Brazil.
