The juicy, aromatic, wonderfully fragrant fruit of the guava has a flavour reminiscent of a mixture of quince, pear and fig. Its pink to orange-coloured flesh contains plenty of vitamin C, A and B6 as well as potassium and fibre. From the outside, the guava fruit looks like a mixture of pear and apple.

The guava grows on smaller trees, which are originally found in tropical and subtropical America. To date, the guava has spread to many tropical countries. It is a plant species from the myrtle family that is used not only as a useful plant but also for medicinal purposes.

Guava is often used to prepare juices, jams, jellies and desserts. We think that the sweet and sour, aromatic flavour is best enjoyed in a refreshing smoothie in which the guava puree is mixed with a neutral fruit juice.
