The mango is not considered the ‘queen of tropical fruits’ for nothing: it is juicy, sweet and extremely flavourful. Its bright yellow, tender flesh is particularly easy to digest and provides our body with vitamins A, C and E as well as potassium and fibre.
Mangos are the stone fruits of fast-growing trees from the sumac family, which originally come from the tropical rainforests of Asia, but are now found in many parts of the world.
The flesh of the mango encloses a large, woody stone seed, which contains the somewhat smaller seed itself. The stone sticks to the flesh of the fruit and is quite difficult to remove.
The aromatic, sweet flesh of the mango can be combined very well with all kinds of other tropical fruits, especially low-sugar fruits (such as açaí) or sour fruits.
We source our mango puree from Ecuador and our mango pieces from Peru and Madagascar.
